Anne Lamott, author of many books and specifically one on writing, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — so I am just going to start writing, and worry about the rest later.
So. Why am I blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal? Well, I do keep a personal journal and will continue to use that for my daily affirmations, prayers etc but this public way of sharing my self helps keep me focused and accountable to my thoughts and desires. I have also had many nights where I lay in bed and read other blogs and I find great information, relatable people, helpful guides and personal experience stories that have ultimately shaped my perspective. Call me nosey, but I love learning and watching how others operate and perform, especially those who I would consider to be one or more “steps ahead” of me and where I am in my life. If I can provide that same thing for others, I will feel like I have contributed to this invisible pot of expectations I have created for myself.
What topics will you expect to see me right about? EVERYTHING. But for simplicity purposes, I will try to break it down into a few easy topics. Expect to see a lot about my struggles as parent b/c… kids. I will be taking you along on my faith and prayer journey. (more on that in a separate blog to come). Also expect to hear all about my new venture into Real Estate and what it is like starting from the ground up. You might also hear of my struggles with “diets”. I have finally settled on the keto diet for health reasons but I still struggle with staying committed. I find that sharing recipes and interacting with others who also do keto really increases the likeliness of me sticking with it! you feel me? With all of that said, one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why I started.
My ultimate goal is to document the next year and be able to go back and see where I landed while still appreciating the journey. I would love to connect with others who are in the same waters as me, even if we are not in the same boat 😉 .
If you have found yourself here, you are either simply nosey, like myself, or on a similar journey and looking for relatable material. Whatever it is, I appreciate the visit!
Stay Tuned, People! 🙂
